This 1962 Cadillac Series 62 convertible has been owned by the same family for 50 years. The car is described as a highly original survivor that looks remarkably clean with what is said to be 100k original miles on the clock. The seller provides over 100 detailed photos and says it has always been garage kept and covered – overall it appears to have been very well cared for. Newport Blue over blue interior has aged well, and the car is powered by a torquey 390 cubic inch V8 good for 325 horsepower when new. This one has received standard maintenance over the past ten years and the seller says it is very nice to drive.

The seller says the car still wears its original Newport Blue paint. In the past 30 years, it has been used only for sunny Sunday joy rides and before that was used only for long family vacation trips. The ‘62 Caddys showed the influence of new GM styling chief Bill Mitchell. Essentially facelifted 1961s, they had a flashier, more “Cadillac-like”

Cadillac’s trademark tailfins were still around in ‘62, though they had vanished from other GM makes by 1961. For ‘62 the fins lost some height but were still a key part of the design. The bottom “skeg” fin would be eliminated for ‘63. 1962 was a good year for Cadillac that saw 16,800 of these convertibles produced — more than in ‘61 or ‘63.

The engine compartment looks as original as the rest of the car. The 390-cubic-inch V8 was rated at 325 horsepower. The only repair items in the past 10 years noted by the seller are a new battery, new seals in the transmission, and a new water pump. New for ‘62 was a dual-circuit brake system, something that would be mandated on all cars years later. Overall, this looks like a very clean example of a ‘60s luxury convertible.
