If you’re a borrower who may not meet the lending requirements set out by traditional lenders, you might need a specialist loan.

A specialist loan is a loan with wider credit criteria or special features outside of a basic or standard variable home loan.

Some common reasons why you may need a specialist loan are credit scoring, loan purpose, impaired credit history, the need for a

loan after discharged bankruptcy or income verification requirements.

There are no clearly defined characteristics that help to classify specialist borrowers. Generally speaking, if you’re a specialist borrower, you’re simply someone with a genuine need for home loan finance who is beyond the scope of traditional lenders.
