What is Long-Term Care?

Long-term care is the type of care you may need when you are no longer able to care for yourself due to a prolonged illness such as a cognitive impairment such as dementia, or if you need assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, eating, toileting, transferring, and continence for an extended period of time. Long-term care is provided is the recipients home or in a long-term care facility such as a nursing home or an assisted living facility.
