Vital Records is responsible for the collection and issuance of birth and death certificates and marriage and divorce coupons.
Birth and death certificates serve two purposes. They are the definitive legal documents of identity and they collect important medical information about the two most important events – birth and death.
Marriage and divorce coupons are so called because they are removed from the bottom of marriage and divorce certificates, the original of which is retained in the offices of the county clerk of courts; these coupons contain limited information.
Hours of Operation
Arkansas Vital Records is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. The office is closed on state holidays.
Most certificate requests can be processed the same day if you are in the Vital Records office by 4:00 P.M. and have all the required information needed to search for the certificate. However, for certificate requests such as genealogy
from before 1935, paternity affidavits, corrections, etc. same day service is not guaranteed. Customers who arrive in the office after 4:00 P.M. may pick up their request the following day or may ask that it be mailed.
