How to apply for a marriage certificate
HOW TO APPLY FOR A MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
Certificate requests are sent to Fiji on a weekly basis for normal processing by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Processing time is a minimum of six weeks. Processing may take longer in cases where the application forms are incomplete, incorrect information is provided by the applicants, there is a delay in the registration of the marriage and postal service delays. The Fiji High Commission in Canberra and the Consulate General (Sydney) will not be held responsible for any delays in the processing of certificates by the Registrar General of Birth, Deaths and Marriages in Fiji or any mishandling by the postal services.
Please note that a copy of any Australian Government-issued, photo ID (drivers licence, proof of age card, university
student card etc ) from the bride or groom, which has been certified by an Australian Justice of the Peace, must also accompany the marriage certificate request form. Express permission from either the bride or groom, to authorise the request for the marriage certificate must be obtained by third party applicants. Please note that the Form A10 is not the official Fiji marriage certificate.
