Park City is located just off I-80, 30 miles east from Salt Lake City Airport, which has frequent connections to most major cities. The airport has excellent snow removal and de-icing, so delays are not normally experienced unless the weather is very bad.

The drive from the airport is 30 minutes in good weather and even in a bad snowstorm the road will be open. There are numerous transport companies that run buses to Park City at roughly 30 minute intervals in the winter at a cost of around $ 3 2 per person. Summer van schedules are less frequent and a prior booking is highly recommended.

Park City has a very good, free, intra-town bus service that runs right by the condo every 20 minutes and goes to all the resorts as well as Main St. and the Factory Outlet Stores. Nevertheless, you may want to consider a rental car: it is often -20 degrees at night and you may not like waiting for the bus after dinner. Throw in a trip to Alta or Snowbird and a car starts to make sense.

Park City is an old silver mining town, the richest in the world in fact, and the historic Main St area is very well preserved. In the 1890s the population was 20,000, but the town was almost designated a ghost town in the 1950s after the silver mining industry collapsed. Recently, the town has boomed with the opening of the three ski

areas, starting with Park City Mountain Resort in 1973. The number of full time residents is now around 80 00 and growing as people come chasing the activities available, the superb weather and the relaxed lifestyle. The effects of such rapid growth have been fairly well mitigated by a very active and concerned council, plus strict zoning and building codes.

There are around fifty eating establishments in Park City, ranging from burger joints to very high standard restaurants. The seafood buffet in Snow Park Lodge at Deer Valley is

world famous. Additionally, Riverhorse, Grappa, Chimayo, Wahso and Zoom are well worth a visit. There are also around thirty watering holes and contrary to popular myth there are no problems getting a drink in Utah. The Spur is probably the nicest bar in town.

Shopping abounds, both in Main St and at the nearby Outlet Mall. The Outlet Mall offers over fifty name brand stores and very good prices. If you are visiting in March, the local ski shops all have huge sales.

Our Park City condo, in the 'Payday' complex, is very well situated, only 100 yards from the new Silver Star Chairlift at Park City Mountain Resort and around one mile from Main St. The other nearby ski areas, Deer Valley Resort and The Canyons are both around three miles away. If you are a cross-country skier the Golf Course becomes an excellent 12km trail in the Winter, and is just out the back door.
