How do you amend a tax return
How do I file a CURRENT YEAR amended federal and state return?
Before you begin, be sure that you have a printed copy of the most recent return that has been filed and accepted by the IRS . If you do not already have this, you can retrieve it for a Prior Year by clicking the "Prior Years" tab, then "Access Return" next to the tax year. Click "View/Print Return" on the Return History page. If you are amending your current year return, we will automatically carry the original information to the amended return with the exception of any balance due that you may have owed.
From the Main Menu of the prior tax year you are amending, select "File an Amended Return " located above the refund generator.
For the current year program log in to My Account, click the green Access 2014 Return, then select "2014 Amended Return " from the black navigation bar on the left side of the screen. Current IRS Regulations do not allow amended returns to be filed electronically. You will need to print and mail the amended return to the IRS for filing. The fee for the current year amended return is $21.95 (Prior Year Amended Return is $21.95 ). Once the fee is paid, you will be taken to the Amended Return Main Menu. There you will have a list of instructions on how to amend your return.
