What is Unsecured Tax Four Pay Plan?
Escape bills in excess of $500.00 may be eligible to be paid on a FOUR YEAR PAYMENT PLAN. The payments are payable over a four-year period as per California Revenue and Taxation Code.
To enroll a bill on the Four Year Plan, you must: a. File a written request with the Tax Collector's
office prior to the due date of the bill.
b. Pay the $200.00 four pay fee and submit check with completed with written request or completed application.
c. Pay at least 20% of the tax, no later than the due date.
When are Unsecured Tax Bills mailed?
Unsecured tax bills are mailed out by June 30th each year.

May taxes be paid with a credit card?
No not as yet. The only credit card payments being accepted are for secured property taxes.
What is the lien date?
It is the date when the liability fixes to the assessee. The lien date is January 1.
How does a sale, removal or disposal of my business equipment, boat or aircraft affect my tax bill?
The tax bill will be issued to the owner on the lien date January 1. Disposal, removal, or sale of the assessment after the lien date will not affect the tax bill. NO PRORATIONS ARE MADE BY THE TAX COLLECTOR ON UNSECURED PROPERTY TAXES. Any proration is strictly a private matter between buyer and seller.

What if my check is dishonored by the bank ?
$33.00 fee is added to the tax bill and any applicable penalties will be applied retroactively.
