‘Where’s My Refund?’ Lets You Check Your Tax Refund Status
With tax season upon us, Americans are eager to deposit their tax refund into their bank account. If you’re anxiously awaiting your tax return or are worried about whether or not the IRS has actually received your paperwork, you’re in luck.
According to the IRS, nine out of 10 refunds are received by taxpayers within 21 days. However, if you want extra assurance that everything is in order with your tax return, last year the Internal Revenue Service released a helpful tool that will ease taxpayers’ worries.
IRS ‘Where’s My Refund’ Explained
The IRS “Where’s my refund” web application allows you to see your tax return status, so that
you know where your paperwork is in the review process.
The statuses are as follows:
- Return received
- Refund approved
- Refund sent
Simply visit irs.gov/refunds to use the feature. Typically, the status of your tax refund will be available within 24 hours of the IRS receiving the filed return. After that point, taxpayers can regularly check-in on their tax return status as the website refreshes its system every 24-hours.
Now, despite the short tax return filing delay, you can stay on top of where your tax refund is in the return process and when you can expect that much-needed cash in your bank account.Source: www.gobankingrates.com
